It would seem that collective imaginations have become rarefied, like species on the verge of extinction. Breaking down the barriers between these key fields of imaginary production – art and craft – and finding bridges and porosities between them, is a major challenge if we are to invent a meaningful world.
I have chosen to weave, and through this gesture to link art to life. I seek to develop woven works, ranging without distinction or hierarchy from jewelry to wall pieces. I assert a certain idea of elegance, which plays on the tension between an almost rustic simplicity and a luxurious preciousness. What emerges is a sophisticated and sincere aesthetic, a passionate and daring approach to materials and manners, which appeals to the slowness of the gaze.
We look, we plunge into the asperities and accidents of weaving that underline the gesture of fabrication. It’s all about making the world more real. This honest approach, which takes a cosmic stand, contrasts with the illusionist reign of smoothness and glitz.
The world is saturated with ephemeral goods. I produce living objects that subtly change their appearance with the light, the hours and the seasons.
I carefully weave each piece myself in my studio in the Limousin region of France. I follow a long development process, to offer pieces that are mastered and reliable in design and color, pieces that stand the test of time. I strive for the purest, most satisfying design every time, according to criteria of elegance and pragmatism. I use materials chosen for their quality and provenance, favoring the closest sources that satisfy my quality criteria.
I propose a craft that reinvents its object and its codes, combining the quality demands of luxury craftsmanship with the creative demands of authentically contemporary art.
